NEW YORK, US, 6 July 2016
To this land and its people, lifted above the polluted clouds of worldly greed, notwithstanding the ire of feudalism and woeful aristocracy, was gifted a leader unlike any, a leader in vastness as the ocean of wisdom, immeasurable in depth of vision, unfathomable in clarity of conscience, and pure as the purity of water.
A manifestation of Avalokiteshvara, yet someone who rejoices in calling himself a simple Buddhist monk, in touch with reality and every walk of life, from facets of secular and political groups, to heads of state and headwind pop icons, and just as casual in conversation with ordinary laypeople.
His Holiness has touched over a billion hearts with his compassionate teaching, and sowed and influenced peace, at the brink of many wars, scaled on many people’s imagination or on a nation’s mindset. A leader anything but heavenly, who spanned different centuries on fourteen reincarnation, shouldered the burden in this lifetime of a nation under attack, while only a teenager.
With simple Buddhist robes, he trotted the globe, embraced and welcomed every belief, every opinion, to spread the message of inner peace, altruism, and compassion, and promote Buddhism as a science based on empirical evidence. A spiritual leader who structured his displaced, destitute people in exile, with a planned vision to preserve and lay foundations for self-help and education, upon fruition of which, two generations of Tibetans were able to boldly face the world with intellectual flair and newly-minted confidence, all thanks to His Holiness.
On this most special auspicious day, the 6th of July, I would love to wish His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, a very happy 81st birthday, the birthday of a Man unlike any, who probably changed Tibet and the world as a whole. Every minute, every day, every month, is a blessing as long as His Holiness lives. His breath alone is the force to clear all impurities and His presence, a hope to mankind, and eternal light to the hellish man-made darkness!
