Tenzin Lekshay, who currently has the rank of Additional Secretary, will be the new spokesman of the Central Tibetan Administration.

The appointment was announced by Sikyong Penpa Tsering during a press conference on Thursday, taking charge with immediate effect.

Lekshay is currently serving as the Director of Tibet Policy Institute (TPI), the think tank of the Central Tibetan Administration. He will hand over to Dawa Tsering, the former Representative at the Office of Tibet, Taiwan, to lead TPI once Tsering would be able to travel to India.

Sikyong Penpa Tsering while announcing the appointment expressed confidence in Lekshay for a strong performance and dedicated service in the new role.

Over the years Lekshay has worked as media co-ordinator, and organised national and international conferences of Tibet Support Groups and interfaith meetings, gaining rich experience in media and organisational works.

He graduated with a Master’s degree in International Relations from New York University (NYU) from 2006-08, and also has a Master’s degree in Economics from Madras Christian College in Chennai.

He joined the Central Tibetan Administration as an Under Secretary at the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR) in 2003.
