China declined Monday to congratulate Joe Biden as the winner of the US presidential election, saying the outcome of the vote was still to be determined.
While incumbent Donald Trump has yet to concede and has launched several legal challenges, many world leaders congratulated Biden and running mate Kamala Harris after the Democrats were declared winners at the weekend and spontaneous celebrations erupted across American cities.
Trump’s four years in the White House have been marked by a costly trade war and increasingly icy relations with China, with the two powers sparring over areas from blame for the Covid-19 pandemic to Beijing’s human rights record in Xinjiang and Hong Kong.
China — among a handful of major countries including Russia and Mexico that has not congratulated the President-Elect — said Monday it had “noticed that Mr Biden declared he is the winner of the election.”
“Our understanding is that the outcome of the election will be determined in accordance with US laws and procedures,” foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told press at a regular briefing.
After declining to acknowledge Biden’s victory despite repeated questions from reporters, Wang said: “We hope the new US government can meet China halfway.”
Trump has refused to concede defeat, complaining in a tweet on Sunday, “Since when does the Lamestream Media call who our next president will be?”
Trump is not a normal person like you and me. His own family members have written books about his nature and behaviour. He is what Tibetans call བླུན་པོ་རང་མཐོང་ཅན་ a narcissist. Unfortunately, despite his immorality of sexual dalliances with multiple women, fraud in business dealings and conning unsuspecting customers, he made a lot of money either through hook or crook. He draped himself with this garb which gave him respectability.
He got a forked tongue that spew venom one moment while spilled showers of roses the next moment. This double personality made him both loved and loathed. With his money he was able to do anything and he became untouchable. He always won but this time he lost and he cannot take it.
Despite the fact that the odds are stacked against him, he still wants to fight because he never learnt to lose gracefully. He thinks only about himself. That’s why, he wants to take the whole nation down with him. He has no sense of patriotism to protect the image and sanctity of his own country in the face of evils like the CCP. As Gyaltsen Wangchuk mentions, the CCP is using the chaos in the US as an example of how terrible and malevolent democracy is and how “fraud” is committed in democracies and how elections are just a façade and how “untrustworthy” they are.
He is helping the CCP to legitimize its dictatorship as the only alternative to democracy. His actions are god send for the godless Chinese communists. One can safely say Trumps action is treasonous by sabotaging democracy and rejecting the will of the American people.
There is no way he can get anywhere with his litigation this time around. He will be the first American President in history who will face multiple criminal charges after he is forced out of office on 20th of…
China is fishing in the troubled water. It’s not a case of China being scared of Donald Trump. It is naïve to think so if not outright partisan.
In China, the American election, for Chinese domestic consumption, is being portrayed as a huge power struggle causing chaos and great suffering to the American people. The American system is inherently chaotic and unjust. The power struggle is not over yet.
China, being mature and non-interfering in internal affairs of anther countries, doesn’t think it’s proper to acknowledge Biden’s victory as election is inconclusive. Trump is responsible for this impression of inconclusiveness and Xi cleverly takes advantage of this situation to have a dig at America. China of course knows the election is finished and over!!
It’s all Chinese attempt to portray China in a shinning light and America struck in a chaotic and corrupt system.
Xi might have secretly hoped for Trump to win because Xi has no quarrel with Trump on issues of human rights, freedom & liberty, democracy, or excessive American involvement on international stages for projections of American power and values. Trump’s own ideology and values are quite similar to those of Xi’s own. So where is the quarrel? oh yes, the trade imbalance in American disfavour, Chinese theft of American intellectual properties and certain security issues and above all Trump’s king-size EGO. So if China can find a clever ways to ego message Trump, he will get easier to deal with.
So question of being afraid of Trump doesn’t arise. But it is all about China being in shining light and America in darkness is in the focus here.
China is scared of Trump. If they appear too eager to congratulate Biden they know what’s coming to them when the Biden/Harris win is overturned and they have to still deal with Trump. They’re not scared of Biden nor have they been scared of any past Presidents of USA. The Chinese know that people like past presidents like Obama and Bush who all mollycoddled China will talk tough but always chicken out eventually.
Communist China will not Congratulate President elect Joe Biden because he called Xi a thug which is true. The second reason is despite all of Trumps fire and brimstone, he has a soft heart for Xi and he said it umpteen times. China wants to see the Trump’s controversy to drag on and bleed America to discredit the democratic system which is anathema to the CCP dictatorship.
It wants Trump to continue his reckless condemnation of the American democratic system to derail democracies around the world. They want to prolong this ruckus to create confusion and anarchy to demoralize the nation.
Another reason is China preferred Trump to win because Trump has alienated all of America’s allies which is in China’s interest. An isolated America is weak and a weak America helps China to establish itself as the dominant power.
Trump has been called Putin’s puddle. Both authoritarian Russia and China have vested interest in undermining democracies and peddle their authoritarianism as the model for the world to follow.
Trump is an authoritarian demagogue who will stop at nothing to get his way like Xi who threatened the Hong Kong democracy protestors that he would, “crush their bodies and shatter their bones”! Does this sound like some one who deserves respect or a blood thirsty tyrant?
He is making the threat to his young citizens in Hong Kong! If the US doesn’t succeed in its endeavour to remain the pre-eminent world power, the world will be plunge into a terrifying totalitarian hegemony where the universal values of human rights and freedom of speech will be snuffed out and oppression will reign supreme.
