The Miss Tibet Pageant 2020 has been cancelled due to the global Coronavirus pandemic, organisers said in a press release.

The 2020 Pageant was to be held in McLeod Ganj from 5 to 7 June, and would have been the 18th edition. Application for contestants was open from 1 December 2019 to 31 March 2020.

Applicants have been told to apply again starting in December 2020 for the 2021 Pageant, which will take place from 4 to 6 June 2021 in McLeod Ganj.

No Pageant was held in 2019 as there were no applicants. The year 2012 also saw no Miss Tibet Pageant, as the Pageant was cancelled due to the large number of self-immolations in Tibet calling for China to allow the Dalai Lama to return, and for freedom in Tibet.

The Miss Tibet Pageant began in 2002. In 2018, it was held in New York city, the first time the event was held outside of India. The 2018 Pageant had only one participant, who was crowned the Miss Tibet for that year.
