Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama on Thursday praised New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern for her compassionate approach in dealing with the aftermath of the recent terror attack in the country and said 21th century should be the century of peace and non-violence.
Responding to a question at a press conference in New Delhi, he added that New Zealand serves as a “living example” for others, as to how to respond with calmness and compassion in the wake of such incidents.
New Zealand’s leader tried to deal with a “very sad situation” through compassion, he said when asked about the incidents of violence in the last few years in many countries, stemming from hatred.
“She tried to tackle the problem through non-violence, compassion and respect for others. So, there are methods (to deal with violence). And, although what happened was a very sad incident, there was no further increase in violence,” the Dalai Lama told reporters.
“I really admire the New Zealand prime minister, that lady. She is wonderful. So, that is a living example, and everyone can learn from that,” he said.
At least 50 people were killed and several others wounded in a terror attack by on two mosques in Christchurch last month. The attack sparked global outrage drawing condemnation from leaders and institutions around the world.
After the attack, Jacinda Ardern’s humane approach in consoling a grieving nation and dealing with its aftermath, including meeting the Muslim community members, was widely praised.
We shouldn’t emphasize that we aren’t seeking independence too much. That will induce China to smell our weakness, and try to make us climb down even more.
Such repeated reiteration has the unintended consequence of making the world think, ‘ Ummm… Tibetans aren’t that keen on independence. They look happy to be part of China.’
A subtle balance should be struck between the independence and MWA. If more than 70% of the exile population become stone-hard Middle-pathers, then it poses an existential problem to the Tibetan movement. The ration between Rangzen and Umaylaam should be about 30:70.
Rangzen and Umaylaam are like two wheels of bicycle. You will have one of those wierd one-wheelers otherwise, ever ready to fall.
Around the same time 120 Christians were killed by Muslim militants during a 3 week period in Nigeria. But media chose to totally ignore it.
The Christchurch attacker has done a great disservice to his nation with his action. Now New Zealand has gone full force Muslim appeasement. Media and the general public may think that Ardern handled this incident with great sensitivity and finesse but actually New Zealand has played straight into the extremists hands. Now some Muslims there are asking Jacinda to Embrace Islam.
Remember once upon a time Uyghur’s were Buddhists, Pakistan and Bangladesh was Hindu, Afghanistan was Buddhist, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq were Christians, Iran was Zoroastrian, Kashmir was Hindu, Balti’s were Buddhists and so on…
MSM and the Sharia Bolsheviks are very understanding when it is the Communist China that is perpetrating the oppression on Uyghur Muslims where china called Islam a mental illness that needs to be cured. They even have the approval of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Now that the most theocratic state of Saudi Arabia is liberating, Brunei is taking on the mantel of upholding the Sharia law where homosexual sex, adultery, rape and insulting Muhammad or Islam is punishable by death (stoning), teaching children about accepting other religions leads to fine or jail and theft punishable by amputation. And yet you get called an Islamophobe when you say the ideology needs reform.
