The Karmapa Lama called for Tibetans to remain united and focus their energy on the Tibetan cause for resolving the Tibetan issue, and to preserve Tibetan culture.
“Without unity the Tibetan cause cannot be achieved. Each and everyone has the responsibility for that unity without the divisive regional and sectarian affiliations,” said the Karmapa in New York City on Tibetan Democracy Day.
He was speaking on the occasion of the second Gyalyum Chenmo Memorial Gold Cup in North America.
That Karmapa pointed out that unnecessary conflict within the small Tibetan community brings anxiety among the people.
He emphasised that every Tibetan should consider the Tibetan cause above everything else, and should work towards ending the discord that hurts Tibetan unity and the Tibetan cause.
More than a thousand Tibetans living in New York City and New Jersey congregated at the Michael J Tully Park Stadium in New York City to watch the final match between Team Tibet, the football team of New York/New Jersey, and the Cholsum Football Club of Toronto.
Team Tibet won the finals by three goals to none by Cholsum. A total of 16 teams played in the tournament over three days.
The Toronto team had won the first edition of the tournament in 2016, defeating the NY/NJ team.
The Tibetan Democracy Day celebration in New York/New Jersey will be held on the 9th of this month.
Now, Indian government sees HH Karmapa as the credible successor to the Dalai Lama with 5 Acre land offered near Delhi airport.
This follows rather quickly after his mentor, Tai Situpa was seen with Narendra Modi in April, right after blocking CTA’s ‘Thank you India’in Delhi during Buddha Jayanti. Let’s not forget Modi met Xi Jinping in Wuhan the previos month, which was speculated to be about Dalai Lama’s imminent death, and brainstorming with what to do with Karmapa Lama and 150,000 Tibetans in India.
It emerged that the leaders agreed Tibetans in India should be given indian passport after HHDL’s passing to put an end to the Tibetan stateless refugee drama. Now that seems to be happening right now with Indian Home Minister
declaring Tibetans as Indians, and not refugees and guess.
Moreover, there is a clear war between Kagyu and Gelug lamas. In the previos governments, Gelugs were prefered. But now, Modi government is promoting Kagyu over Gelug, promoting Tai situpa over Dalai Lama. What’s the reason? strange…
India is sidelining Dalai Lama, and snubbing him to such an extent that he has no choice but to surrender and return to Tibet. That, i think, is the indian policy.

building fake narratives upon fake news I thought was the prerogative of MSM like CNN. But you did a nice try.
You wont even grant HHDL his wish to go on a pilgrimage to China and meet with his followers there. You have to give it a nasty twist of HHDL surrendering to China under Indian pressure. For all I know, many Indians may be disappointed that HHDL wants to go to China. But Of course HHDL has all the right to want to go there and meet with his Chinese followers.
Karmapa has been doing his very best in the circumstance that he is in. and fyi, the land offered near Delhi is not for free. Karmapa himself expressed how it was not a small amount that he can readily pay for it and take over it.
The Tibetan freedom is faced with many challenges—from within and without.
For a few decades some Tibetans have tried to divorce Tibetan freedom struggle from decades and centuries of means, methods and philosophies of people who struggled against oppression, suppression. discrimination and cultural genocide.
This was done by condemning Tibetan self-immolators and selling the magic pill of umailam.
I am interested in seeing if any Tibetan leaders are engaged in the Tibetan freedom struggle in comparison and contrast with freedom fighters outside Tibet.
Like Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, JP Narayan, etc.
Prayers and declarations are wonderful: any indication of having thought out, not more than, but at least like freedom fighters elsewhere, would be so reassuring.
“While Mandela became best known for his capacity to forgive and reconcile, he never abandoned his belief that the ANC had been justified in its use of violence. In his speech at the 1964 Rivonia trial he said that “without violence there would be no way open to the African people to succeed in their struggle against the principle of white supremacy. All lawful modes of expressing opposition to the principle had been closed by legislation, and we were placed in a situation in which we either had to accept a permanent situation of inferiority or to defy the government. We chose to defy the law….when…the government resorted to …force…only then did we decide to answer violence with violence.”
— Nelson Mandela at 1964 Rivona trial
stop this ‘ A told me this, B told me that’ tactic of lending false of reasonableness and dignity to an utter tosh was hundred percent invented as a work of fiction.
Lamas would say, ‘ Oh, I met this man from X, or Y… and he told me blah blah blah…’ They are lying.
dalai lama, karmapa, lobsang sangay, all uses this ‘ A told me this’ tactic. Such phoneys! Fake anecdote alert!
Unless Gaden Phodrang withdraws from Tibetan politics 100%, there will be no Tibetan unity.
A Tibetologist confided in me his true opinion of Tibetan leadership. He says HHDL employs divide and rule policy – playing Khampas against Utsangs, Kagyus against Gelugs, Sarjors against Nyingjor, Non-Shugdenpa against Shugdenpa, and vice versa.
I told him he’s indirectly criticising Dalai Lama. But he said ‘ I don’t care! I don’t depend on Dalai Lama for my income.’ Then, the rude Tibetogist left the scene, leaving me utterly stunned.
To this day, I don’t know what to make of his words. Perhaps few years later, in retrospect, we might be able to see what he meant.
May the teaching of his holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and his holiness gyalwa karmapa prevail forever. Long live.. Yes truly unity is strength as we all heard this since from our childhood so it’s very essential to maintain it. There are countless seen and unseen obstruction that’s trying to destroy our unity. Either partiality and differences are the creation of our own or PLA, we must have to be prepared and tackle this kind of situation and obey the teaching of our spiritual leaders and let’s not let any force destroy our strength.

Unity among Tibetans is the key factor to achieve our goal. What we need is a pure democracy, that mustn’t like what we have now.
Gaden podrang’s power should be dissolved fully and all the governing power must come in the hand of cta.
Long live hh the Dalai lama and Karmapa.
The Gyalwang Karmapa should go back to India. US is no place for lama of his stature. He should engage in more of spiritual activities and contemplation or even charities either in India or Tibet.
I am grateful for the advices coming from the Gyalwang Karmapa. Many a people are not aware of the fact that Tenpa Yangphel (one of the biggest reason for disunity in the community and only at par with Sikyong in this regard) belongs to Drukpa Kagyu. When the Gyalwang Karmapa reprimanded him for his statements in the parliament against Kundun and Nechung, he with utter defiance bragged saying, ”I am representative of Drukpa Kagyu.” Hinting that he doesn’t have to heed to the advice of the Gyalwang Karmapa.
Incident during HH DL’s birthday at New York between Tenpa Yarphel la our Newyoker Tibetan women, just after that Karmapa refused to attend the program which is arranged by our Tibetan community, which he accepted already and refused at the last minute just because of Tenpa Yarphel case.
TY must be a Drukpa Kagyu. Drukpa Kagyus are different from Kamtsang Kagyu of Karmapa. There is bad blood between the two https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsqSZ5gCqBI&lc=z22vutebjtbxtpgkgacdp4342wiwc23o25tl04znv1xw03c010c
Unity among exile Tibetan won’t so easy as Karmapa thinks and says. It involves anger, jealousy and hatred at root. It is not necessarily a Chinese creation within our community to divide us. This stigma of division was started by our own exile people and blind faith believers just followed without any research or logicalization and sycophants have put more fuel in it.
HH Karmapa was the world’s 2nd youngest political prisoner at 14 when Indian government locked him inside Gyuto Monastery walls till now.
HH comes right after panchen lama who was only 6.
So the great Asian tigers – India and China – also have one monk political prisoner to show off to the world.
