McLEOD GANJ, India, 6 August 2017
The voting for the Tibetan Music Awards has begun from Saturday, and will close on Monday 12 midnight India time.
Started in 2003 and organised every other year, the event honours Tibetan musicians, singers, and those from the recording industry for their musical and artistic achievements, and to encourage excellence in the industry.
The awards are based on albums produced within the last two years, and the winners were directly elected by the public through online voting.
Voting is in 18 different categories such as: Best Male Singer, Best Female Singer, Best Album, Best Song, Best Opera Singer, Debut Album, Best Music Video, and Lifetime Achievement.
The winners will be announced on the Awards presentation ceremony night on 1 September in McLeod Ganj.
All musicians, singers, and others from the recording industry who have produced works and are deemed eligible for awards will be invited for the event.
The event is produced by Lobsang Wangyal Productions.
The news of Tibetan Music Awards voting is indeed music to my ears, after the mishmash of issuance of passports and subsequent denial of NOC et al.
Whereas, inside Tibet no such hassles exist because all passports issued to Tibetans were revoked since 2012.
If music be the food of love, play on. Give me excess of it……Shakespeare
