MCLEOD GANJ, India, 27 October 2016
The twelfth Free Spirit Film Festival will be held for five days from Thursday, the 27th October, in McLeod Ganj. The organisers say that preparations are complete, and they are ready to go.
A total of 21 films in different genres and subjects have been lined up for the Festival. There are some compelling, touching, and provoking films, which were selected out of more than 80 submissions from around the world.
There are five feature-length films, and the rest are all short and super-short films. Seven of the films are from independent filmmakers in India, in the genres of drama, documentary, and experimental.
All the films are exclusive. The organisers had to leave out many good ones owing to the limited time, and say “We wish them success in their endeavours, and congratulate those who have been selected for our Festival. We could see the love and hard work they put into their films.”
As in the past, thirteen awards will be given in “best in categories” such as Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, etc, decided by a grand jury. Also the audience will vote for an Audience Award.
The Festival, started in 2004 under the banner of Lobsang Wangyal Productions, is aimed at sharing beautiful stories, concerns, interests, and creativity. The Festival particularly promotes independent filmmakers.
The Festival organisers say, “Manifesting true ‘free spirit’, the Festival has no boundaries, and screens films in all genres from all over the world.”
