Election Commission of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) announced the election of Tenzin Wangpo Tethong as the new representative of the Tibetans in Europe in Tibetan Parliament-in-exile.
The announcement came after the resignation on 17 March of Chungdak Koren (Norway), due to health reasons.
Tethong is currently a senior consultant for Campaignforum — a consulting and PR agency in Zurich, Switzerland. He holds a masters degree in history from University of Zurich. Besides his first language German, he also speaks English, French and Tibetan.
Tibetans in Europe have two members in the parliament. There are a total of 44 members in the parliament, elected for a period of five years by Tibetans outside Tibet. The other representative member from Europe is Ven Thubten Wangchen (Spain).
The current 15th parliament was elected in March 2011 for a five year term till 2016.
