Dear Tibetan brothers and sisters,
I am writing to all of you, who have recently taken to the streets to protest against your Kashag and your Prime Minister. Let me be frank, I find this absolutely disgraceful!
You go and demonstrate against your own formally-elected government in exile? Because they have made a decision on one employee? Because they let him go? Really??? What’s wrong with you guys?
If you want to demonstrate you should go in front of the Embassy of the country that is directly responsible for you losing your land!
I might not be able to read and understand Tibetan language, but to see those photos and postings on Facebook, and know from Tibetans what is being written on hundreds of “WeChat” groups worldwide, I am simply disgusted. And I lose faith in the Tibetan Community.
But it’s not about me. It’s not even about you. It’s about the future of the great land of Tibet.
Do you even grasp the idea of democracy, something His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama introduced to your culture? Are you even aware what difficult stance your Kashag has in the international political world, as a government in exile? Do you understand how you harm not only the Tibetan international community but also Tibetans INSIDE Tibet?
I wonder what powers drive you to such actions. And I hope its only sheer EGO. That is curable. Because your actions serve only those powers who want to silence and to get rid of you as a people. Get that.
I don’t have to be a Tibetan, I don’t have to be a Buddhist, to say to you what you are doing is utterly wrong. To be a simple human being is enough. No need to go to university to understand. Just get the bigger picture.
With your actions you do not serve the Tibetan Community, you do not serve your fellow Tibetans in Tibet. You create anger and splitting. That is so wrong in times where humanity should come together as ONE, rather than split into groups and more groups. Who are YOU serving?
I hope that everyone directly and indirectly involved in these unintelligent actions will read my comment. Please stop this NOW, unite in peace and compassion. As ONE people – the Tibetan people in this world experiencing genocide. As ONE humanity.
My heart goes out to the people of Tibet, in Tibet, who suffer unfathomable from their occupants.
Truly, you should be ashamed of yourself and I hope you will find a way to your heart. Your heart will guide. I hope you remember who you are and who to serve.
Peace and Love to you all. Free Tibet!

Dear Evelin Ptassek,
I understand your view and appreciate your sincere concern for us Tibetans. Do not be disgusted with us, we like a spoilt child do not yet appreciate what His Holiness has given us and squabble amongst ourselves, bicker and snivel at each other. Yet you must forgive us since we have just leap-frogged from the 7th century to the 21st and do not truly understand democratic process and its high ideals. As for the west, you yourselves had to undergo many transformations and tribulations before your nation became a true democratic system.
It will take us a while to step up to the plate and make a home run, but we will get there eventually. However, no matter how much we wish to be like His Holiness, we still are people of this earth and we cannot all reach his level of realization. But we do take to heart his teachings and try every day to take a step forward.
As you may be aware, in the western democratic system, church and state are two different entities, whereas in our case the “church” is still intertwined with our fledgling democracy. I think this is where are friends in the west have mixed feelings. You want us to be like holy monks at the same time tackle worldly issues like you do in the west. Is such a utopian dream possible?
Thank you once again for your support.
Gyalpot.
Hello Evelin,
you are missing the point. It’s not about what’s happening now in the Tibetan community. It’s why is it happening?
If you think there is bad thing happening in the Tibetan community, then find out why it is happening? Who created this mess?
Tibetans are fighting against China for truth, and this is exactly what the Tibetans are trying to do now.
Why is it ok for an elected leader to misuse his power and sack someone without any good reason? Shouldn’t Tibetans fight against such a bigot leader and the injustice?
What is wrong with you Evilin? You sounding like one of Kim Jong-Un’s very own. Are you sure you have been living in the free world Germany all this while? Because in your Germany there is much freedom. But your attitude towards Tibetans is that they have to fit into a box of your preconceived notion and they are not expected to voice their difference of opinion and thoughts. You make such a hue and cry over this protest that one would think that the they were going to go on a violent protest or something like that. I’m truly shocked by your over exaggerated response. But I guess you would be more accepting of the violence and crime that is becoming the norm in your country. Be concerned about that.
I do want to mention here that am not supporter of either of them as I don’t feel that am in a position. Those people protesting want to know all the facts. People have the right to know. What is so wrong with that? Who the hell cares if the Chinese are laughing at us? If the Chinese think this is a laughing matter let them. It is a democratic process here and Tibetans don’t take it lightly. Btw, the concept of democracy is not something new to the Tibetans. We may have lost our land temporarily to China but Tibetans lived freely and proudly before the annexation by Chinese. Please do get some real information.
Dear Tenzin-la,
to get all the facts is one thing, and crucial, to demonstrate AGAINST your ELECTED government in exile is another. You bark at the wrong tree. Thank you for your comment. Best wishes to you. evelin
She is basically telling us to follow the supreme leader blindly. That is democracy to her. Does she even realize what happened to Germany and the world when the vast majority of the German people followed Hitler like sheep looking for father figure? Her argument is biased and childish. Does she even realize the politics of regionalism and vendetta played by Sikyong in sacking Penpa Tsering? No. She doesnt care. She has no clue about Tibetan domestic politics. She can find another cause if she is losing faith in Tibetan community but we will [not] tolerate this lecture that attacks the victim and let go the perpetrator.
Hi Kunsang-la,
I am saying: Unite! ALL Tibetans. Do not allow any individual or any group to separate you from each other. Thank you for your comment. Best wishes to you, evelin
You nailed it! Amen.
I agree wiv kunsangla n tenzingla and dawala. evelin is brainwashed and not open for a fair dialogue. Better just ignore her. Hopeless case.
We know your feeling dear Evelin Ptassek and we are always grateful with supporters like you all over the world. However, at this critical time, the only thing we should and could do is stop accusing any party, be it Sangay or Penpa, they both failed to attach a leash to their own crazy supporters. So, at this very moment, taking any side is like pouring oil over the fire, and Tibetan youth should take lead pushing for unity by not taking side, and not joining any of the two barking groups, and those foreign supporters who’s really worry about this issue as well.
Although you mentioned that you are not supporting Sangay, you took his side by accusing those who joined the protest. ICT’s Todd Stein took side by supporting Penpa, and longtime Tibet supporter André Gattolin also took Penpa’s side by expressing his shock toward “lack of transparency of CTA.”
You all love Tibet and His Holiness, but you all take sides, and that can only worsen the situation now. So I request all Tibetan and Tibet supporters help us get the unity back by NOT TAKING ANY SIDES!!!!
Hi Namgyal-la,
no side taking here. Please unite. evelin
And one reminder… CTA did not accuse its representative of anything until the matter went public from a misunderstanding of procedure and misguided efforts to have one’s way…
Sorry to be so talkative!
I am appalled and ashamed by your arrogant response Evelin. Unworthy of a reply I am afraid.
Dear Sonam-la,
appalling it is. Thank you for confirming. evelin
Dear Tseyang from Europe, very sorry, but you do not get the point. Please read again. It is NOT about Mr. Schulz, NOT about Dr. Lobsang Sangay or the Kashag. It is about YOU HARMING the Tibetan people INISDE Tibet! Stop this non sense! Or do you think His Holiness is stupid to entrust political matters to the Kashag and Dr. Sangay? What’s wrong with you guys? Sorry, but your comment does not impress me.
Tibetans in Tibet struggle for PURE SURVIVAL and you have nothing better to do with your time then to attack your own people? Who do you serve? Your EGO? Tibetans INSIDE Tibet look up to His Holiness and trust the government in exile. So should you!
Even you belong to those who have prejudice since not knowing the matter thoroughly. What would the German people think if Martin Schulz got fired abruptly as ambassador implying he acted ‘dishonestly’ etc? Exactly, many of your compatriots would revolt and that is what we do. 1. Study the matter carefully 2. Only then judge…
Wait a minute, dear. If Shultz were recalled, he would return quietly to Berlin or Bern or whichever capital he was sent by.
If he were a career diplomat, he would be posted elsewhere or kept at home. If he were dissatisfied, he would contest his recall, transfer, whatever through ‘proper channels’.
If he were a political appointee, as Mr Penpa was, he would return and make any fuss he had in mind at home, face to face with the politician he supported and who appointed him. Of course this case had a twist, but not unlike Hillary Clinton at State after Obama won. What did they do? They worked together really well.
The Chinese are laughing.
Dear Tica-la,
“proper channels” is right. This is not a proper channel chosen. It harms the Tibetan community and Tibetans inside Tibet. Thank you, best wishes to you, evelin
