Tibetans-in-exile around the world will go to the polls to elect their next political leader known as Sikyong and 45 members of the Parliament-in-exile of the Central Tibetan Administration. Around 80,000 Tibetans have registered to exercise their franchise in the Election 2021.
Voting will take place in two rounds, with a preliminary scheduled on 3 January to nominate candidates, and the final round scheduled on 11 April to decide the new Sikyong and the 45 members.
Polling will take place at about 60 different places around the world. The counting of votes will start from the 5th January, and the results will be announced within 24 hours of counting of the votes at the respective locality.
Tibet Sun will cover the Sikyong elections and publish the results on this page as and when they become available. The official result will be announced by the Tibetan Election Commission on 21 March when the names of the candidates will be announced.
The final round of voting will take place on 11 April, the results of which will also be covered and published by Tibet Sun as in the preliminary round. The official final result will be announced on 14 May.
