Letter to the Editor: Kalden Lodoe's reprehensible act!By Tenzin Nyinjey | Tibet Sun DHARAMSHALA, India, 15 July 2011Anger, frustration, and sadness! These are the emotions that gripped my heart, when I came to know that the Tibetan Youth Congress president, Mr Tsewang Rigzin, was thrown out of the Verizon Centre in Washington DC for his ‘too political’ act of selling T-shirts emblazoned with the words ‘Tibetan Government-in-Exile!’ It appears that Mr Kalden Lodoe, president of the Capital Area Tibetan Association, has forgotten that the title ‘Tibetan Government-in-exile aka Central Tibetan Administration’ is not just a bunch of dry words on a white paper, but is associated with certain values for the six million Tibetan people. It symbolizes our hopes and dreams to free ourselves from the yoke of Chinese totalitarianism that has been ravaging our homeland for the last more than fifty years. Perhaps, these values and emotions doesn’t matter much for him now. However, in the midst of racial discrimination, contempt and loss of human dignity, the only solace left for our brothers and sisters, on both sides of the Himalayas, is the aspiration of one day His Holiness the Dalai Lama being restored to his rightful place in the Potala Palace — an aspiration that is represented by the title ‘the Tibetan Government in Exile.’ It is ironic that such a reprehensible and tragic incident occurred amongst us Tibetans, and that too in Washington DC — capital of the world’s most powerful democracy! I’m sure even Hu Jintao and Kim Jong-il would be surprised by such a ‘spectacle!’ Copyright © 2011 Tibet Sun Published in Tibet Sun
