Tibetans in Kathmandu protested during the 51st anniversary of the Tibetan uprising against Chinese rule.Reuters/Gopal Chitrakar/Nepal Thirty-four Tibetan protesters were arrested today for staging anti-China demonstrations to mark their ‘Uprising Day’, even as Nepal has stepped up security at Chinese establishments in the country. Chanting pro-independence slogans and waving Tibetan national flags more than 300 Tibetans staged demonstration in the premises of Buddha monastery in Kathmandu and Chinese Embassy’s Consulate Office, despite heavy deployment of policemen. The Tibetans have been arrested as they broke law by staging anti-China demonstrations in different parts of the capital, a senior police officer said. Under pressure from China the Nepal government has intensified security in and around Chinese establishments in Kathmandu including Chinese Embassy, Chinese Consulate’s office and some Chinese business centres to prevent anti-Beijing demonstrations, the police said.
