The Dalai Lama asked Tibetans in exile to work towards the Tibetan cause with a greater responsibility, saying that Tibetans within Tibet are resting their hopes on the exiles.

“Tibetans who are in the free world must not forget their roots and use their freedom to take greater responsibility to work towards the Tibetan cause,” the Dalai Lama said.

He said that Tibetans inside Tibet are living under the repressive Chinese rule, but they have been living with unconditional and uncompromising will and determination to be free.

Furthermore he went on to say that those who have laid down their lives for the cause will take a higher rebirth, and asked Tibetans never to forget their sacrifice. He also asked Tibetans to pray for those who have survived torture and suffering physical hardships that they may be healed.

He then stressed on the importance of education, and asked Tibetans to focus their attention to both traditional and modern education. “A sense of dedication alone is not enough as education is imperative to effectively contribute for the cause.”

The Dalai Lama spoke during a long life puja ceremony offered by the Tibetan government-in-exile held at Tsugla Khang Temple in Mcloed Ganj where Sakya Trizin led the ceremony. Officials of the exile government including the Prime Minister Samdhong Rinpoche, Speaker Penpa Tsering, Justice Commissioners, minsters and other officials attended the ceremony.

Lamas representing the four schools of Tibetans Buddhism including Gaden Tripa, Karmapa, Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche, Ling Rinpoche and other Lamas were also present. Thousands of Tibetans and tourists gathered at the temple court yard for this ceremony.
