Singh is training six Tibetans with five machines in a knitting programme administered by the Planning Council of the Tibetan government-in-exile.Tibet Sun/Lobsang Wangyal/India The Department of State of the US government has announced funding opportunities of $2.5 million US dollars for Tibetan non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in South Asia. The Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, of the State Department, is overseeing the distribution of the funds for NGOs in India and Nepal, and to a lesser extent in Bhutan. Funds will be provided to programmes focusing on gender equality, health and nutrition, and livelihoods, including education. Proposals from Nepal could include activities that address the water and sanitation sectors. The funds will be provided for a period for one year.
