Police on Saturday arrested two Tibetan youths on charges of raping a Tibetan girl in Mcleod Ganj on Friday night. Superintendent of Police of Kangra District, Atul Fulzele, confirmed the arrests to Tibet Sun.

Fulzela said that a 17-year-old Tibetan girl has been raped by the two youths after the victim was invited to a dinner two nights before Losar, the Tibetan New Year.

They all had consumed beer at the restaurant where they had dinner. After the dinner, the girl asked the two men to bring her home. But instead of bringing her home, they brought her to their rented room at a guest house on the road leading to the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, where they raped her. The girl lodged a complaint at the police station the next morning.

Police then arrested the two accused under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code. The two men are in judicial custody, Fulzela said.

The victim was taken to the Zonal Hospital in Dharamshala for examinations.

It was the second such incident in Mcleod Ganj in the recent times. In January, a German woman was raped by other two Tibetans. Police arrested both the men, who are also in judicial custody.
