The Tibetan government-in-exile, on Wednesday, launched a local cable network for the exile community in Dharamshala, to highlight its policies.

Prime Minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile, Samdhong Rinpoche, launched the new network — Tibet TV — which will be operated through the local Bhagsu cable channel.

All of the programmes will be regulated by the Audio and Visual division, of the Department of Information.

“The channel will transmit four hours of programmes, every evening, from 6 to 10 pm”, said Jigme Tsering, the director of the division.

“Half an hour will be news, and the remaining hours, will be about the many aspects of Tibet, and Tibetan people’s issues.”

The channel will also broadcast live transmissions of the sessions of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile, and other functions and announcements of the exile government.

Programmes of the Dalai Lama, including his teachings and speeches, will also be relayed live, and documentary films on Tibet, from the archives of the exile government, will be shown on the channel.
