Kalsang Tsultrim, a monk of Gaden Choekorling Monastery in Gansu province, also called for the return of the Dalai Lama to Tibet in the video message. Copies of the video was released to the media on Friday by the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy, an exiled based human rights monitoring group in Dharamshala, India. The hour-long video was recorded on 18 July, and was later edited with other footage and photos he acquired in a final version made available in a VCD that was widely distributed in many Tibetan areas in Gansu, Qinghai and Sichuan Province. Kalsang has also authored a book, written essays, and composed lyrics. Many other issues were also raised in the video, such as: forced resettlement of the Tibetan nomads into sedentary communities, extraction of Tibet’s natural resources, destruction of the environment, economic marginalisation and social exclusion of Tibetans, and a lack of freedom for the Tibetan people. Kalsang appeals to the International community, including the United Nations, saying they have the moral obligation to speak on behalf of the Tibetan people inside Tibet who are living in constant fear and under severe repression.
