Danish Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen will receive Tibet’s spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, for a visit later this month, his office said on Friday.

The Dalai Lama has been invited to the Scandinavian country for a visit 29 to 31 May by the Danish humanitarian organisation Tibet Charity.

Rasmussen will meet with the 73-year-old Tibetan at his official residence in Marienborg, north of Copenhagen, on the first day of his visit.

The Dalai Lama was expected to give two seminars during his visit before leaving for Iceland on 31 May.

The Dalai Lama last visited Denmark in 2003 when he was received by the previous Danish prime minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen. That visit prompted protests from China.
