Exile govt offers long life prayers to the Dalai Lama

The Tibetan government-in-exile, on behalf of Tibetans in both inside and outside Tibet, offered long life prayers to the Dalai Lama on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the Chinese occupation of their country and his life in exile.

Sakya Trizin, the head of the Sakya school of Tibetan buddhism led the prayer recitation, while the prime minister of the exile government Samdhong Rinpoche and the speaker of the Tibetan parliament-in-exile Penpa Tsering offered the ceremonial ritual offerings to the Dalai Lama.

Religious leaders from all the four sects of Tibetan buddhism and the head of the Bon, the native Tibetan religion, the minister and all the top officials of the exile government, and thousands of Tibetans and their supporters gathered at the Tsugla Khang temple of the Dalai Lama in Mcleod Ganj for the prayer ceremony.

The Dalai Lama expressed his concern and safety of the Tibetans inside Tibet. He appreciated their unrelenting spirit for Tibet.

The 73-year-old Dalai Lama pursues a hectic international tour and has a hectic schedule that he is at his base in Dharamshala for only 25 percent in a year.

The health of the Dalai Lama remained a cause of concern after he complained stomach pain last year. He was then admitted to Lilavati hospital in Mumbai in August last year and was subsequently had gall stone surgery at Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital later in October.

In February he was in Delhi for a pinched nerve treatment at the Apollo Hospital.

He declared that he is enjoying good health during Losar, the Tibetan New Year, on 25 February at Bylakuppe Tibetan settlement in south India and that there is no cause for worry over his health.
