The Dalai Lama returned to Mcleod Ganj after undergoing a treatment for pinched nerve in one of his arms in Delhi on Monday.

Upon arrival at the Gaggal airport he said is feeling better and will resume his schedule after a few days rest.

“I am feeling much better now. Some pain yesterday (pointing towards his arm),” he told reporters at the airport.

“I hope in the next two or three days it will be fine.”

He was rushed to Delhi on Monday after he complained of discomfort in one of his arms.

Doctors at the Apollo hospital diagnosed pinched nerve as the cause of the problem.

In October last year he had surgery to remove gallstones in a hospital in Delhi. Earlier on in August he was hospitalised in Mumbai after he complained of abdominal pain.

He then cancelled a planned European tour after doctors advised him to take rest, saying he was suffering from exhaustion.

Media reports quoting Tenzin Taklha, the Dalai Lama’s secretary, say that the Dalai Lama’s upcoming European tour will go on as scheduled. He will visit Italy and Germany beginning 8 February.

He will be in Bylakuppe Tibetan settlement in south India for Losar, Tibetan New Year, which falls on 25 February. However, the usual Losar celebrations will not be there, as Tibetans mark 50 years of Chinese occupation of Tibet in March.

Although the Dalai Lama is 73 years old, he has vowed to lead the Tibetan freedom struggle, saying it is his moral responsibility.

The Dalai Lama is seeking autonomy, not independence, for Tibet through his “middle-way” policy, but China accuses him as a “splittist” or separatist.

He fled Tibet in 1959 after a failed uprising against the Chinese occupation.
