A long-time Tibet supporter and a Gandhian Dr Mahesh Yadav and two other supporters arrived in Dharamshala as a part of their mass awareness for Tibet campaign tour of India.

Yadav took blood from his left hand and wrote two appeal letters addressed to the President and the Prime Minister of India calling them to raise and support the Tibetan issue.

They are touring with a message calling for — Bharat Jago, Tibbat Jago (wake up India, wake up Tibet).

Explaining the theme of the tour, Yadav said that Indians should wake up and understand the dangers of the Chinese military poses to the security of India and Tibetans should wake up to understand their struggle for a free Tibet.

He said that only an independent Tibet will guarantee a secure India.

The campaign, Yadav says, is to educate the Indian masses at the grass roots.

“It is important that Indian masses know and understand the situation of Tibet and the Tibetan struggle, and why it is related to the security of India.”

He said that people are shocked to know the presence of Chinese military not far away from their homes and the danger it poses to the security of India.

“Not many Indians know about the Tibetan issue and the presence of Chinese military at the border not so far away.”

The three-member team from Bhopal in central India started the tour in mid December covering cities, towns and villages in the Indian states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. They will be covering Rajastan, Gujarat and Maharashtra in the next one month, and plans to cover south India at a later time.

Dr Mahesh Yadav is a practitioner of ayurvedic medical system in Bhopal. He has been supporting the Tibetan cause for the last 15 years. He is particularly known for his blood letters, portraits and signature campaigns. He founded the Mahatma Gandhi Tibet Freedom Movement.

His blood letters have been sent to many world leaders and the portraits he drew exhibited at many places.

His next major move will be to fight for a Lok Sabha (Indian legislature) seat in the Indian parliament as an independent candidate in the coming general elections in May.

“I will make the Tibetan cause my election manifesto.”
