Tibetan leader the Dalai Lama on Saturday urged Israel and Palestine to stop fighting and start working together harmoniously.

Inaugurating a forum named “Global Congress on World’s religions after September 11 — An Asian Perspective” here, he said: Israelis and Palestinians must stop fighting and start respecting each other.

He said that struggles could be ended by a mutually agreed solution. Thus he added the Tibetan issue would also be soon resolved with a mutual solution.

The Dalai Lama said that in all struggles, the basic thing is not victory of one side and defeat of the other. What was needed was, Victory of both sides, mutually agreed solution and mutual benefit.

“I have full confidence. We will find eventually agreed solution. In the meantime we need support,” the Dalai Lama said.

Over 1100 Palestinians have been killed since Israel launched its offensive on 27 December to force Hamas stop rocket attacks on its territory from Gaza.

Israel has accused Hamas of taking shelter among the civilian population and using sites such as mosques and schools as military posts.
