Dalai Lama to visit Auroville

The Dalai Lama will visit Auroville in Tamil Nadu, south India, on 20 January to inaugurate the Pavilion of Tibetan culture.

The work of the pavilion, which was just completed, would be declared open by the Dalai Lama during his visit, a release from the pavilion press coordinator said.

The Dalai Lama will address a meeting and speak on human unity and universal responsibility.

This will be the third visit of Dalai Lama to Auroville since 1973. His second visit was in 1993.

Auroville is an “experimental” township established in 1968 by Mirra Alfassa, also known as “the mother”. She was an associate of philosopher and spiritual guru, Sri Aurobindo .
