The Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama flew in Prague today within his tour of Europe. He was welcomed by about 20 young Tibetans and Czech supporters of his country outside the hotel he is accommodated in.

The Dalai Lama, 73, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, will on Sunday give a lecture on understanding as a path to happiness at which he will answer the listeners’ questions.

He arrived in Prague at the invitation of former Czech president Vaclav Havel and Foundation Forum 2000.

The Dalai Lama also plans to meet members of the Chamber of Deputies Group of Friends of Tibet.

In reaction to the Dalai Lama’s European tour China cancelled the summit with the EU that was to be held in Lyon, France, on Monday. It was postponed indefinitely.

The Dalai Lama will on Sunday give a lecture on understanding as a path to happiness.

If the two sides reached agreement on a new date, it could be held in the Czech Republic that will take over EU presidency from France on January 1, 2009.

The Dalai Lama was to be a guest to the Forum 2000 conference in Prague which he regularly attends, but he cancelled his participation at his doctors’ recommendation.

He was in Prague previously in 2006.
