The worst snowstorm on record in Tibet has killed at least seven people and stranded over 3,000 in damaged buildings and villages. The storm, which started on Sunday and dumped 64 centimetres of snow in one county alone, also killed 144,400 head of livestock and knocked out telecommunications and traffic.Xinhua/China The worst snowstorm on record in Tibet has left seven people dead and over 3,000 people stranded by damaged buildings or roads, Xinhua, China’s state-run news agency reported on Friday. The storm, which started on Sunday with about five feet (1.5 metres) of snow blanketing much of Tibet this week, also killed 144,400 head of livestock. Shannan, Nyingchi, Chamdo, Nagqu and Xigaze are the worst-hit areas, with telecommunications and traffic affected. The Sichuan-Tibet road was blocked due to the heavy storm on 27 October.
