The Dalai Lama has expressed grief over the lives lost in the two strong earthquakes that hit Tibet on Monday, according to a statement on his official site.

He also offered to assist those people who are affected by the earthquake as a gesture of his deep concern and solidarity.

“I am deeply saddened by the loss of life and property as a result of the earthquake that struck Damshung county and neighbouring areas west of Lhasa.”

“Our prayers go out to those who have lost their lives in this tragedy and we offer condolences to their families and those affected by this natural disaster. I am exploring avenues to extend assistance as a token of my deep concern and solidarity with the people devastated by this earthquake,” the statement added.
