The Dalai Lama has been admitted to a hospital in Bombay on Thursday due to abdominal problems, but there is no cause for concern, his secretary said.

“His Holiness is feeling discomfort in his abdomen, and was admitted to Lilavati Hospital to undergo medical tests tomorrow morning (Friday),” said Tenzin Taklha, the Dalai Lama’s secretary.

“There is nothing major to feel concerned about.”

The Dalai Lama’s personal physicians recommended him to go for medical tests after he complained of exhaustion a few days back.

In January 2002 he was rushed to the same hospital to treat an infection of the large intestine.

The Dalai Lama, 73, generally known for experiencing good health, has become subject to exhaustion due to his constant travelling.
